ManhwaClan is an ad-funded reading site for Korean manhwa, Japanese manga and Chinese manhua. No account, no paywall. Semrush's competitor data put manhwaclan.com at roughly 161 million visits in October 2025, in the same traffic bracket as KunManga, King of Shojo, Bato and ToonGod.
That volume is the whole problem. A brand people type into Google by the millions is worth stealing. Anyone can register a domain with "manhwa" and "clan" in it, copy the layout, load a few ad scripts and wait for searchers to land there. Most of what looks like confusion about ManhwaClan is really a duplicate-domain problem, and few write-ups treat it that way.
Why safety checkers give ManhwaClan opposite scores
Search for the site's reputation and you will find everything from a perfect score to a "suspicious" label. They are not contradicting each other. Each tool measures something different:

Guides disagree with each other on which address is "the new one," and nobody outside the operators can settle it. A fair rule: the domain with the longest history and the cleanest scans is the best candidate for the original, and a lookalike registered in the last year gets no benefit of the doubt. That includes any list of "latest working links," this one too.
How to verify any ManhwaClan address in two minutes
- Type the address yourself. Do not click it from a comment, a Telegram post or a Reddit reply.
- Check the spelling letter by letter. Extra hyphens, swapped word order and odd extensions (.co.uk, .art, .top) are the usual tells.

- iPhone: a Safari content blocker plus the built-in pop-up block.
- Every device: deny notification permission when the site asks. Push spam is the most common way a clean-looking visit turns into weeks of junk alerts.
The legal and creator side most guides skip
ManhwaClan hosts chapters its operators do not hold rights to. Publishers such as Kakao Entertainment, Naver Webtoon and Shueisha license these series, and the artists are paid through those channels. Reading on an aggregator pays nobody in that chain.
Publishers do pursue this ecosystem. In early 2024 the Android reader Tachiyomi shut down active development after legal threats from Kakao Entertainment, and its community moved to a successor called Mihon, with extensions maintained by the Keiyoushi project. Extensions that point at imitation domains get flagged as fake in that same repository, which is where the ManhwaClan clone warning above comes from.
