Most anime and manga mods for Minecraft still run on Java Edition 1.20.1 with Forge, a smaller group runs on 1.21.1 with NeoForge or Fabric, and almost none of the big series mods have been confirmed on the new 26.x versions. Texture packs are the easy part: they work client-side, on almost any version, with a warning at worst. Pick your Minecraft version first, then the mod, then the pack. Doing it in the opposite order is how people end up with a crash report.

Key takeaways

• Minecraft switched to year-based numbers in 2026. Java 26.3 (“Wilderness Bound”) came out on September 15, 2026 and needs Java 25.

• The best-supported anime mods sit on 1.20.1 (Forge). Newer ports for Jujutsu Kaisen and Dragon Ball exist on 1.21.1 (NeoForge).

• Bedrock (console, mobile) does not run these mods. You get Marketplace add-ons and texture packs only.

• Download only from CurseForge or Modrinth. “Mod download” mirror sites are where the malware lives.

Which Minecraft version to run for anime mods

Use 1.20.1 on Forge unless you have a reason not to. Mojang dropped the old 1.x numbering this year: Java 26.1 arrived in March, 26.2 in June and 26.3 in September, and the last release on the old Java 21 line was 1.21.11. Modders move slowly, and anime mods are mostly one-person or small-team projects, so the content you want is usually a few versions behind.

Version and loaderWhat you can runVerdict
26.3 (Java 25)Vanilla, texture packs, shaders. I found no series mod from this article listing 26.x support.Skip for anime mods, for now
1.21.1 NeoForgeLimitless (JJK), Dragon Ball Craft, assorted anime weapon and pet modsGood if you want newer performance mods too
1.21.1 FabricProjectJJK, and a One Punch Man mod on 1.21.11Light, but small selection
1.20.1 ForgeJujutsu Craft, Cursed Fate, Ninshu: Origins, Bleach-Awaken, Attack on Titan, MHA Craft, OtakoModBest choice: widest, most tested
1.12.2 / 1.16.5 ForgeDragon Block C, ShinobiCraft, Mine PieceOnly for those specific mods

One practical catch: a 26.x server wants Java 25, while a 1.20.1 modded server runs on an older Java. Keep the two in separate folders or separate instances in your launcher so one update does not wreck the other.

Best anime mods for Minecraft, by series

These are the mods that were live and listed on CurseForge or Modrinth when I checked. “Fan-made” applies to all of them, and most carry an All Rights Reserved license, so treat them as play-only, not something to repackage or sell.

Jujutsu Kaisen

Jujutsu Craft (Sorcery Fight)

1.20.1 and 1.16.5 · Forge · 11M+ downloads on CurseForge

The most downloaded anime mod in this list by a wide margin, and it was updated recently. It is the safe pick for Jujutsu Kaisen if you play on Forge.

Catch: Forge only, and no 1.21 build.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Fate

1.20.1 · Forge · updated October 2026

A more structured RPG take: structures, ranks, cursed techniques and PvP. Pick this one if you want a progression path rather than a sandbox.

ProjectJJK and Limitless

ProjectJJK: Fabric, 1.21.1 and 1.20.4 · Limitless: NeoForge, 1.21.1

These are your options if you refuse to stay on 1.20.1. ProjectJJK needs Fabric API and SpecterLib, and its last file dates from December 2024, so expect rough edges. Limitless is newer (September 2026) and lets you play as Gojo, Sukuna or Yuji with domain battles and Mahoraga.

Naruto

Ninshu: Origins

1.20.1 · 500+ jutsu

Clan and chakra nature selection, tailed beasts, and compatibility with JourneyMap and Traveler’s Backpack. The cost is performance: the animation load is heavy on weaker PCs.

AHZNB’s Naruto ShinobiCraft

1.12.2 · Forge

Old, but arguably the deepest system: ninja XP, chakra control, bloodlines and jinchuriki forms. Worth it only if you are happy playing a 2017-era version.

Dragon Ball

Dragon Block C

1.12.2 · Forge

Saiyan, Namekian and Frieza Race paths, a Ki system, Dragon Balls to hunt and quests. Still the reference for Dragon Ball roleplay servers, still stuck on 1.12.2.

Dragon Ball Craft

1.21.1 · NeoForge

The modern-version alternative: Dragon Ball characters with their different forms. Lighter on mechanics than Dragon Block C, but it runs next to current performance mods.

One Piece, Demon Slayer, Bleach and the rest

Mine Piece

1.16.5 · Forge

Devil Fruits as items you find, new ocean biomes and crew mechanics. Eating one grants the power. Fans of the Heart Pirates will want to read the Bepo review before building a ship around him.

Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba) mod

1.20.1 · Forge

Craft a Nichirin sword and you are assigned a breathing style. Slayers level up through advancements, demons through blood. The best PvP loop of the shonen mods.

Bleach-Awaken

1.20.1 · Forge

Start as Shinigami, Human, Quincy or Hollow, then work from a sealed Zanpakuto to Bankai. Reported as well optimized, which matters on a shared server.

Attack on Titan, MHA Craft, OtakoMod

All 1.20.1 · Forge

The Attack on Titan mod is built around ODM gear traversal. MHA Craft hands you a random Quirk on a new world, which makes every run different. OtakoMod mixes Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, Solo Leveling, Death Note and others into one crossover: chaotic, fun, and a good side dish in an existing pack.

Stacking warning

Two big power-system mods in one world (chakra plus cursed energy, for example) will fight over keybinds, combat events and balance. Run one main series per world. If you want variety, add OtakoMod or a cosmetic pack, not a second full RPG.

Anime and manga texture packs

A texture pack (resource pack) changes how blocks, items, mobs and menus look. It does not add abilities. Since 1.6.1 Mojang has called them resource packs, so search for both terms.

The honest picture: there are many fewer true manga-style packs than mod lists suggest, and several popular ones were built for 2021–2023 versions. Old packs usually still load; Minecraft shows an “incompatible” warning and lets you enable them anyway. Newer blocks and mobs just show vanilla textures where the pack has no art.

PackLookNotes
HafenBright, simple anime colors, restyled mobsOlder pack, expect gaps on new content
Stylista (128x)Soft pastel, hand-painted, LabPBRLists support from 26.x back to 1.16; needs a shader to shine
Demon Slayer resource packNichirin-style swordsPartial pack. Layer it over another one
Anime Meme packJoke textures and soundsNot serious, very shareable
Fresh Animations (16x)Not anime, but smoother mob animationPairs well with any anime style

How to get a manga or cel-shaded look

The look people call “anime Minecraft” usually comes from three layers, not one pack: a stylized resource pack on the bottom, a mob or sword pack on top, and a shader. Install Iris and search Modrinth shaders for “toon” or “cel” to get outlines and flat shading. Move the packs in the in-game list so the specific one (swords, mobs) sits above the general one.

Resolution tip: 16x and 32x run on anything including a Steam Deck. 128x plus shaders needs a decent GPU. Test on a throwaway world before telling your server to force a pack.

Bedrock and console players

You cannot install the mods above on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch or phones. Bedrock gets Marketplace add-ons and community packs, which combine behavior and texture data and give you ninja or samurai themes, not licensed series content with full ability systems. Bedrock is currently at 26.52, and if you want to join a Java server from Bedrock, Geyser listed support for Java 26.2 but not 26.3 as of early October. Full anime gameplay still means Java on a PC.

Install without breaking your game

  1. Choose version and loader. Example: 1.20.1 with Forge, or 1.21.1 with NeoForge. Get loaders from NeoForged or Fabric.
  2. Make a separate instance. Prism Launcher or the CurseForge app keeps your anime setup away from your vanilla world.
  3. Download from the project page on CurseForge or Modrinth, matching version and loader exactly.
  4. Add dependencies. ProjectJJK, for instance, needs Fabric API and SpecterLib. The mod page lists them.
  5. Allocate RAM. Roughly 6 to 8 GB is the common recommendation for heavy anime mods.
  6. Launch once, read the log if it fails. The first red line in latest.log usually names the missing or wrong file.
Red flags

A “free download” page that asks you to run an installer, a .exe instead of a .jar, or a mod you have to complete a survey to get. Mods are .jar files. Resource packs are .zip. Nothing else is legitimate.

Sinytra Connector can sometimes run Fabric mods on NeoForge. Do not rely on it for large content mods with their own combat systems. Test in a spare instance first.

Running anime mods on a server

Every player needs the same mod version and the same loader as the server. Texture packs are different: you can set the server to offer one and players accept it on join, or each player installs it alone. If you plan a public server, check the mod license first, since most listed here are All Rights Reserved, and ask the author if you plan monetized ranks.

FAQ

What are the best anime mods for Minecraft in 2026?

Jujutsu Craft (Sorcery Fight) for Jujutsu Kaisen, Ninshu: Origins for Naruto, Dragon Block C for Dragon Ball, the Demon Slayer mod for PvP, and Mine Piece for One Piece. Most run on 1.20.1 with Forge.

Do anime mods work on the latest Minecraft version?

Not yet for the major series mods, as far as the pages I checked show. The latest Java release is 26.3. Newer ports like Limitless and Dragon Ball Craft target 1.21.1 on NeoForge.

Are anime texture packs and mods the same thing?

No. A mod adds abilities, mobs and mechanics and needs a loader. A texture pack only changes visuals and is installed on the client.

Can I use anime mods on Bedrock or console?

No. Java Edition only. Bedrock has Marketplace add-ons that are far more limited.

Which mod loader should I use, Forge, Fabric or NeoForge?

Whichever the mod requires. Forge for 1.20.1 anime mods, NeoForge for 1.21.1 ports like Limitless, Fabric for ProjectJJK. They are not interchangeable.

Where do I download anime mods safely?

CurseForge and Modrinth only, from the author’s own project page.

Can I run several anime mods together?

You can, but one main series per world is more stable. Add cosmetic mods or OtakoMod around it.

Fan-made mods can change or disappear without notice. Check the “last updated” date and supported version on the project page before downloading.
